crunchcost is built to need as little of your data as possible. This page explains, in plain language, what that means in practice.
The calculator runs in your browser
When you use the calculator, the math runs entirely on your device. The inputs you enter (price, mileage, rent, and so on) are encoded into the page's URL so you can share or bookmark a specific result. They are not stored on our servers or tied to your identity. We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect names, emails, or payment details through the site.
What our servers see
To show you a car's depreciation curve, your browser requests that data from our API. Like any website, our hosting and infrastructure providers may keep standard technical logs, for example IP address, browser type, and timestamp, for security, abuse-prevention, and reliability. We don't use these to build a profile of you.
Analytics
We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are useful. It does not use tracking cookies and does not follow you across other websites. We look at trends (page views, referrers), not individuals.
Cookies
The site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not currently show third-party ads. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and add the appropriate consent controls first.
Third parties
Our hosting, data, and analytics providers process requests on our behalf to deliver the site. External links (for example to a manufacturer or a source) are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.
Your choices
Because we don't hold personal accounts or profiles, there's little personal data to access or delete. If you have a privacy question or a request, contact us.
This is a plain-language summary of our current practices, not legal advice. If your use involves specific regulatory obligations, review it with a professional.
